Thanks to everyone who came out to the park on Sunday night to celebrate the park lighting event. Thanks also to those who helped put up the lights, as well as Santa and his helpers who handed out hot chocolate and small gifts.
Please also note that there is a mailbox on the park fence for letters to Santa. The box is near the driveway leading to the gazebo.
This year's Brookeridge Motorcycle Rally took place today. Our destination was the Lodge at Starved Rock, a round trip of approximately 140 miles. We had a great turnout for the event, and we enjoyed very favorable weather. Thanks to all who participated!
Thanks to all of the participants who came out to Main Street Park for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. This year we were blessed with good weather and as a result we had a great turnout.
Special thanks to our volunteers Emily Valles, Melissa Alfano, Stacie and Bill Wharton, Lynn Nash, Karine Gillian, Christine Stortz, and Erin Gardella.
By now every home in Brookeridge should have received the 2024 Brookeridge Phone Directory. This directory is published annually by the Brookeridge Park District and distributed by BHA. We hope you enjoy it. Please also visit the advertisements in the directory and patronize those vendors (many of whom are Brookeridge residents).
An invoice for the annual BHA Dues was included in the Directory envelope. Please submit your dues payment at your earliest convenience to support the events held by BHA and the many other subdivision expenditures your association manages.
If you have a business and are not currently advertising in the directory, please consider doing so in our next issue. Your ad will also appear on our website's Community Info section. Please contact us at info@brookeridgehomeowners.com for more info.
As most people are aware, the recent hail storm has brought out a flood of "contractors" who are going door to door trying to solicit your business. They ring your doorbell and ask if they can go inspect your roof and look for damage. They might assure you that "insurance will pay for it". One such contractor came to my house and started off by saying he was in the neighborhood replacing a roof on a nearby home. Yet when asked, he couldn't give me the name of the neighbor or the location of the project.
If you need someone to inspect your roof, consider finding a reputable, registered and insured contractor. BBB ratings and Yelp reviews might be useful. You can obtain a list of registered contractors from the County's website (use the first available link, but beware it's slow). Also refer to Chapter 24 Article 1 of the DuPage County Code for regulations applicable to solicitors, which includes info about how to post "No Soliciting" signs.
We are now approaching late February, which means it's almost time for our 2024 membership drive. Our drives typically commence once the Brookeridge Park District has completed printing the Brookeridge Phone Directory. Once again, BHA will be mailing those directories to every household in Brookeridge. We will be including our membership renewal form and payment instructions in that mailing. Dues are still only $75 for the year per household.
Residents may also join BHA or renew their membership using the Join Us link on our homepage. Feel free to email us at info@brookeridgehomeowners.com if you have any questions or difficulty logging in and joining/renewing. Your user ID will be the primary email we have on record for your household.
Anyone who has walked the Mallard Landing pathway recently will have noticed that much of the heavy overgrowth has been cleared out and views of the lake restored. Mallard Landing HOA's Deb Coomer and Cathy Jama started the process last year by meeting with county/township personnel to walk the path and request clean up of weed trees and other non-native plants/bushes that were rapidly growing wild and blocking the view of the pond. This dialogue and engagement culminated with a December workforce that began clearing out around the pathway between Kearney Road and the Tot Lot playground and surrounding area. Work then moved along the path toward Millbrook Court. The improvement has been dramatic. More work around the pond and the path toward Plainfield Road is expected in the spring.
Additionally, Mallard Landing commissioned the removal of trees near the swings at the Tot Lot as well as tree and bush growth by the street. The result has been to really open up the lake view. Thanks to Cathy and Deb and Mallard Landing's efforts to work in conjunction with the County and Township to help beautify this area.
Thanks to the Decorating Committee and all of the volunteers who helped set up the trees and lighting at the park. Sunday's lighting party and Santa visit was attended by approximately 150 attendees. If you haven't been by the park in the evening, please stop by and have a look.
